Listen up, listen up. Liz Wilcox here and I have heard you. I’ve got a big announcement and I’m probably jumping the gun, but it’s my business and I’ll share the news if I want to. So this is episode 124, fixing the biggest problem in my membership. So email marketing membership, you already know. Nine bucks a month, every single week. I put out a template, you know, a copy and paste, fill in the blank, Mad lib style newsletter for you to send to your email list, right? There’s some other stuff in there, Q and A, you know, mini courses on list building and email foundations, et cetera. But that is the thing, the membership is right at its core. I help you write newsletters and nowadays with ChatGPT, you know, you could just plug in my template, tell them, you know, I’m a tarot card reader, you know, who specializes in blah, blah, blah, right? And it’ll fill in the blanks for you, right?

It’s an awesome membership. People love it. I have over 4,000 members, but there’s a big problem in the membership and I’m being serious. Like I don’t often put on my serious face, but I, I know there’s a big problem in the membership. So the membership started and it was just in Google Drive, right? Literally you joined and I sent you a link every Monday to a Google Doc and that had the template in it at about a thousand members. I put it on lizwilcox.com at about 3, 000 members. Lizwilcox.com started breaking right. There was constantly tech problems so I moved it to its own site, email marketing membership.com. i created what I thought was a Decent website for $9 and I still stand by it. I don’t thought, I think for $9 a month it’s a great website. You click, you log in, you, you click on email library, you get the templates. But like I said, there’s other stuff in there. And with everything going on with the Internet gods nowadays, like we are seeing some tech problems.

So the biggest problem in the membership, if you’re in the membership you already know, is the site navigation. It’s not perfect. I did my best, I heard people, you know, to help me out, but I know that it’s still confusing. I know that there are people that it takes a couple minutes every time you log in to be like, wait, where was that? I know the search feature isn’t perfect and I know that as the content grows, so does my need to find a simpler, easier user experience. So I have heard you and I am so excited to announce now. It’s not happening right now, but I thought I’d bring you in on the process instead of just bringing it on you. We are actually going to move to membership I.O. formerly known as Searchee. So with membership I.O. i’ve looked at the demos, I’ve been thinking about this for a while now and I just want you to be able to log into emailmarketingmembership.com and have an amazing experience. And right now I know that’s not the case.

So if you’re listening and you’re in email marketing membership, which everyone should be because it’s nine bucks and I write your weekly newsletters for you if you’re in there right now, I’ve heard you, I see you and I am fixing the problem. I am so excited. Patricia and Amy are working behind the scenes, you know, figuring out the best features for us. You know, I’m recording this. It’s mid April, we are hoping by the end of June. So this is going to take a while. The membership’s four years old, there’s a lot of content. We’re hoping by the end of June, definitely into July, we’re going to have everyone moved over into membership. I oh, I believe it will still be emailed marketing membership.com but your login process is going to be so much easier. The user experience is going to be so neat and nice. You know, they have done all the work to create an amazing membership experience and why fight it any longer?

So one of the reasons I’ve always kept it self hosted on my own domain, not using a software was number one in cost rate. If you listen to yesterday’s episode, Yeah, I made $87,000 in March, but I owe a crap ton in taxes. I have, you know, two people on salary, I have myself on salary, so that’s three people. You know, I pay child support, I pay my mama’s bills, I pay my bills. You know, there’s a lot of expenses, right? I created this business because I got a lot of personal I s h t a lot of personal ish that needs to be taken care of and I’m the one to take care of it anyway. So to keep the cost down, I never want to raise the price on email marketing membership. I love the $9 price tag and it’s been historically much cheaper to host it myself. Right? Especially my goal and if you’re watching on YouTube, I’m moving my camera right now. My goal is that EMM has 10,000 members.

And I did some real soul searching in March and I, you know, I looked through customer surveys, I read your emails. I’m in the Facebook group. I heard you when you said this site is not easy to navigate. And I know I can’t get from, you know, the 4,000 members we have right now to the 10,000 members I know are waiting to find Emmy. We can’t get there on my current site. So I’ve heard you. I hope this is great, awesome news for everyone, please, in the next couple months. Bear with me as we move over to this new, slick, awesome, you know, membership site. I’m so excited for you to have a much better user experience. And you know, I have in the past I’ve said like, hey, it’s $9, you know, you’re getting a $9 experience. I want you to have a $99 experience. Right? Like, I want this and not that. I believe in like over delivering, like under pricing so you can over deliver on purpose.

I don’t believe in that, but I love you. I want you to email your people. My main objective, the whole reason I get up and turn this computer on every day and I chose email marketing to teach, is because email changed my life. I just told you all that personal ish I got to pay for. I could have done that without email marketing. And I know I’m not the only person out there with all these personal financial responsibilities. And I know email can get it so that you can set that stuff up on autopilot, not worry the same way I set it up on autopilot. I don’t worry about my mama’s bills no more. I don’t worry about my mortgage no more. I don’t worry about that child support because it’s on autopilot. So I know that you can get there too. And I don’t want to overcharge you. But I also know if the experience sucks, you’re not going to do it. Especially when it comes to email marketing, like the least sexy marketing topic of all time, if it’s not easy, you’re going to make an excuse not to do it.

So I’m so excited to say we are going to be Moving email marketing membership.com off of what we’re currently using, which is a plugin for WordPress and onto membership IO. I know my buddy Brock Johnson uses it. He raves about it. I’ve been looking and I see Amy Porterfield is now on it. You know, all these big names with people that do have those tens of thousands of members and students. So I know that membership IO is the way to go because we are going straight to 10,000 members. I cannot wait to find them and to give you and future members an amazing, amazing experience.

So I’m really, really excited to be announcing this. Yeah, maybe I’m jumping the gun because we’ve still got a couple months, we still got to start moving content, etc. Etc. We are going to fix the biggest membership problem inside emm. A lot of people over and over say, yeah, I love it. I’m just not using it because it’s not easy to use. I don’t get it. Even if they watch the start here course. So I’ve heard you, I see you and I am changing everything for the better for, for you. So you can actually get your email marketing on, get it working for you and get your business growing.
