What’s up? Liz Wilcox here, the fresh princess of email marketing. You are listening to episode 27 of the email sound booth. Um, and I, Introduce myself as the fresh princess every episode, right? Uh, but today I get to introduce myself as the winner of ECAM’s content launchpad apprenticeship. So excuse me while you hear paper moving in the background.

I should have. Fix my desk before I hit record, but this is who I am and I am now the winner of Ecamm’s Apprenticeship. So I’m so excited and I just want to tell you all about it really quick. And I promise this is not a promo for Ecamm, although I love Ecamm and you know, I’m going to put that affiliate link in the show notes.

Anyway, if you’re not familiar with Ecamm, Ecamm is this awesome, like live streaming and video production software. app, whatever you want to call it for Mac only. So if you use PC, you can not use e cam. Uh, but I’ll tell you my beginning of e cam was back in 2018. I had a PC and I was trying to use something called OBS, uh, to make my digital summit, like look awesome and feel good.

Feel like a, you know, like a real production. And my computer was so old and so slow. Every time I would switch scenes with OBS, it would freeze. And so I posted on Facebook and everybody, uh, you know, I was like, Hey, I need my, I want my show to look like this. You know, I wanna be able to change guests and things like this.

And this was before it was super, super popular. And a guy named Jeff C he said, Liz, you need to e cam. And I was hosting this event. I knew I was going to make some money. This was the second time I ran the event. And I actually went out and bought a Mac computer just to use Ecamm. So I am now a Mac user because of Ecamm.

Because this video, the same way, I knew email marketing was important to me. I knew that, you know, looking good on camera on the internet was important. So I actually switched to Ecamm. Uh, but that’s, that’s a little bit of a tangent there. Ecamm again, it’s this video production kind of app. Uh, you know, it started as Ecamm live.

It was for live streaming, but I use it mainly to just, I tell people. It makes me look good in zoom and on presentations, but now we’re going to use it for this show. I’m so freaking excited about it. Uh, Ecamm ran an apprenticeship contest back in September. It was called content launchpad, where they wanted to help one winner.

produce their show. Now, this was perfect for me because a couple of weeks before they announced that they were doing this thing, I had started this show, the email sound booth. But what you don’t know is I have a big, big, big giant vision for the email sound booth, and this has been circling in my head since about 2022.

I’ve never been able to bring it to life. So you know me, I started simple with just this five, 10, 15, sometimes 20 minute podcast. But what I really want it to be is this daily show that, you know, reaches a lot of people. Of course, I love serving you. You are awesome. I hope you continue to listen and hopefully watch, but you also know me.

I’m. I know that I’m meant to reach a large amount of people and I’ve been wanting to bring this show into YouTube. That was my original big picture idea was to make it like the email sound booth, you know, where there’s a booth behind me. If you’re not watching on YouTube, you know, there’s a booth. It looks like I’m in like a music studio, uh, where I’m bringing on guests and not just, I don’t want to bring on subject.

Matter experts. So sorry, please do not pitch me to be on the show to talk about whatever, uh, I will be reaching out to guests. What I really want is to bring you in and you talk about your email marketing. What emails are working for you right now? And what advice have you taken from Liz that didn’t exactly work and you had to judge it up and change it for your industry?

I really want to meet creators where they’re at and the main thing I proposed, so if you, if you’ve never heard of, one of my favorite radio shows is called The Breakfast Club. It’s a radio show based out of New York City, and it’s all about hip hop and black culture. Now, the, uh, The Breakfast Club has been on for a long, long time.

I can’t remember when they started. It’s over, I think, like 12 years or something. And the, they have brought hip hop into mainstream culture, which is exactly what I’m trying to do with email marketing as an online business owner, as a solopreneur, as a creator, whatever the heck you call yourself. I know email is still one of those things where it’s like, yeah, you know, I’ll get to that.

I’ll get to that. I want to bring it to mainstream culture of creators. I, and I. Uh, I just get so freaking frustrated when I meet creators that, you know, are obsessed with their website, obsessed with their social media campaigns, obsessed with, uh, you know, the way they look on video or, you know, getting polished, but they just leave email marketing to the wayside.

Now that’s not you, right? Cause you’re already listening to this podcast. You’re already listening to this podcast. You know, probably in my membership, right? Um, but I want to bring that to everyone because I know the way email marketing changed my life. I know it’s going to change your life too. And I also know that You know, the way to email marketing success is not alone, right?

It’s a hard to do this thing alone, so we’ve got to do it together. So, you know, that’s where the email sound booth comes from. And I want this to be a video podcast, you know, that’s focused on building community and building up. You know, the email marketing community through humor, fun, antics even, and the shared goal of its listeners that we make money with email marketing.

I want creators, I want online business owners. Ah, I just want you to actually make money and I want you to stop relying on platforms to pay you, right? I want you to master email marketing so you can get going with this. So it’s like the breakfast club. Or, you know, maybe Late Night with Colbert meets Smart Passive Income.

Okay, that’s, that’s kind of what I pitched. That’s what I, uh, won. It’s still gonna be a daily show. Uh, the difference between what Email Soundbooth is right now and what I want it to be, um, I want this to have segments, right? I want, you know, there to be hot takes. I want us to remix email marketing strategies.

And again, I want the guests, I want guests to come in, uh, and those guests to be creators themselves. So for example, we have a long time member named, Uh, Cheryl, or I’m sorry, Kathy, and I want her, no, Cheryl, y’all, I just came back from a six day trip. I want her to come in, she’s a food blogger, she’s probably listening to this and rolling her eyes at me, and, uh, I want her to come in and talk about what her emails look like and why they work compared to what I teach, right?

She’s a food blogger, so she has lots of pictures where Liz Wilcox, I I teach and tend to be text only, but it works for her, right? I want to bring in, uh, you know, I met somebody at Ecamm creator camp this week named Julie, who is a paper crafter, right? I want to see what her emails look like. I want to bring in, you know, jewelry makers.

I want to bring in all different kinds of creators and ask them, Hey, what’s working with you for email? Because I know. So it’s easy for me to say, Oh yeah, my last campaign made a hundred thousand dollars. I’m an email marketer selling email, but chances are you are not. And so I want to help you not brag about me.

I mean, don’t get me wrong. I love to brag about myself, but I really actually want to help you. Uh, so that’s the difference between what it is now, this 15, 20 minute podcast, uh, to what I want the video podcast to be. Now I. And this is where maybe you can email me at admin at Liz Wilcox dot com. Uh, and let me know, what do you think?

Should I still have this very simple, uh, you know, podcast form? I still want it to be in podcast form. Um, You know, you don’t have to watch the video, but I’m wondering, should we have, you know, the, the more extended version of ESB email sound booth on YouTube, and then just keep this simple over here, because really what I see it being is, you know, some banter, I want to bring Patricia in, some banter, a couple segments, like I just said, and then the last segment of the show is, is Anyway, dot, dot, dot, because that’s what I teach.

That’s how I teach to segue, right? Uh, give a personal update segue by typing anyway, dot, dot, dot into the content. What I really wanted to share today. So what we’re doing right now with the podcast is that anyway, dot, dot, dot segment. So should I just keep that in the podcast or what? I guess we’ll have to play around with it and see, but you can email me admin at lizwillcox.

com and let me know your opinion as well. So when will this start? Honestly, I don’t know. So I was just at Ecamm Creator Camp, Ecamm’s annual event. Um, and It’s monday i’m recording this at 10 30 eastern. I still haven’t heard from them So i’m assuming they’re taking the day off because they just hosted, you know, a pretty much like a five day event Um, so i’m gonna give them a couple time a couple days Uh to send over the contract and all that.

Um, anyway, I wanted to share with you last Uh, my goals for this. So I’ve had this goal of a hundred thousand downloads for the email sound boost in the first year, which I think we’re going to get to. I, let me look, hang on, let me refresh it. You can hear the, my clicking in the background. I’ve got my stats pulled up, loading, loading, loading.

So we. Started this podcast, September 11th, 2024. I’m recording this October 21st. So what a month and 10 days, and we’ve already got 7, 034 downloads. Uh, so far. This year so just in a month and ten days, so I’m pretty sure we’re gonna hit that hundred thousand Especially given that we are going to put this on YouTube And make it a video podcast So my stretch goal, I would really really really especially with the help of Ecamm they’re gonna make a It looks so professional.

Um, they’re going to also be doing behind the scenes content. So you’re going to want to follow them too. They’re going to be doing like the making of email sound booth. Ooh, how very, uh, you know, 2001 MTV of them. Right. Um, and so I would, I would. I’m going to say this. Oh, my tongue. Uh, I want a hundred thousand YouTube subscribers in a year.

Think with Ecamm’s accountability and help. I think we can do it. Why not? Um, but really the whole point of this show is to serve more people. I want to serve in a large capacity. It’s why I have a 9 a month membership. Of course I see this show and I believe it already has. I started to grow email marketing membership, my 9 a month, uh, weekly template membership.

Um, my goal is to have 10, 000 people in that membership. I don’t, I stopped putting a date on it because it was stressing me out and the doctor told me that with my food allergies, I really shouldn’t get too stressed out. So I, but I believe with, if we could get a hundred thousand people, uh, you know, watching on YouTube in the next year.

Why, why couldn’t we have 10, 000 in the membership by, you know, Christmas 2025? I don’t know if you’re watching, if you’re watching this on YouTube, you can see I’m clutching my face because that feels so big. It feels some type of way in my stomach, but also just feels like the next iteration of Liz Wilcox.

com and email marketing membership. So if not in a year, again, I’m not going to stress about it, but that really, that really is my back of brain deep in my heart and gut goal, uh, with this. Cause I, I just know that this is going to help a lot of people. And that’s, I guess that’s the last thing I’ll share.

I feel so honored to be the one chosen. There was some really stiff competition. There was a guy that. That Emmy nominated that was in the top five finalists and he wanted to do like a comedy teaching class and there was another lady who wanted to bring, you know, higher education. I don’t know. It was great.

There was some really stiff competition. And so I feel absolutely honored. Well, just in general to be doing this work because I know how email changed my life. I mean, I’m sitting here in my dream house on my dream street in my dream neighborhood. I’m not kidding. Um, and I, that wouldn’t have been possible without email and it just feels like such an honor to be the one facilitating this conversation around email.

I went, so I met a guy that was speaking at Ecamm this past week and he was talking about, Oh, I got this. And he was great. He got the six figure contract with a brand sponsorship for his YouTube channel. He has almost 400, 000 subscribers. Well, then I went out to dinner with him and he said that, you know, YouTube has shut down his channel twice.

And he’s had to work hard to get it back. And I was like, bro, where, where is your email in this strategy, right? If you, if you, and this is said with love, you know, I wasn’t dissing him. We had a great dinner, but I said, if you were emailing your subscribers, you know, You probably could have gotten 200, 000.

And he said, well, it’s not really about money. And I said, Oh, absolutely. Totally get that. But at the same time, you could, YouTube could shut down your channel tomorrow. And what are you going to tell that six figure contractor? Right? What are you going to tell that six figure partner? You know? Sorry. Are you going to give that money back?

You know? Uh, so anyway, I just feel like this is such an important conversation. I want to bring email marketing to the forefront of the way we do business as online creative business owners. Email must be a part of the conversation. It must be a part of your daily routine for you to have a sustainable brand and business.

And I, if you can’t see me, I’m cheesing so big. I just cannot believe that I get to be the one. to facilitate that conversation every day, especially now with Ecamm’s help to bring it to even more people. It feels terrifying. It feels exciting. And it feels right. Okay. Anyway, that’s my spiel. I’m so excited to bring this to life.

Again, this has been an idea for two, almost three years. And I know with Ecamm’s help, they’re going to make me look Not and I don’t mind looking semi pro. I don’t you know, I think one of the things that works well for me is that I’m only semi pro, but I know to reach a larger audience. You know, we need to give it a better look and I’m so excited Ecamm is going to help facilitate that so that we could have more conversations around email marketing and Better actually so that we can have better conversations around email marketing.

There’s a ton of conversations out there But let’s have some better ones All right. Thank you so much for listening to episode 27. We won! We won the apprenticeship. Email Soundbooth is about to take off with this content launchpad, uh, apprenticeship thanks to Ecamm. Oh my gosh. Shout out Glenn, Ken, Katie, Doc, uh, all of you.

All the team at Ecamm. I’m so excited. I know you’re excited to listening. Um, and yeah, let’s do this thing. As always, I’d love to, you know, get a review from you, see how email marketing is helping you in your business and how this podcast has helped. And you know, if you’d really like to get going, of course, I’m going to pitch you my 9 a month email marketing membership, where every week I send you a template to send out to your peeps.

Easy peasy. All right. Have a good day.
