Hey friend Liz Wilcox here. You’re listening to the email sound booth podcast And this is episode 45 and the fresh princess today. I might have the uh shortest podcast episode for you Uh hashtag you’re welcome hashtag welks. Um Do people say that anymore? Anyway, I thought I said I was going to keep this short So this is two questions to ask yourself next time you’re struggling to write your newsletter.

Okay? Number one, what would this look like if it was easy? And number two, what would this look like if it was fun? Between those two, you should come up with an easy to write or much easier to write. We’ll say, you know, maybe you’re saying, you know, Liz, it’s never easy to write an email. Get that, you know, if it’s not your forte, that’s what you’re doing here, right?

You lean on me. I don’t know why I sing in this podcast. I suck at singing. Anyway, what would this look like if it was easy? What would this look like if it was fun? Maybe If it’s easy, you just keep it short and sweet by sending a link out, right? Maybe it’s an email like, you know, Hey, first name. I’ve got a doctor’s appointment and I’m really sweating getting out a newsletter because I always want to send you something at least once a week.

So right before I get my car to go to my doctor’s appointment, I just wanted to send you this new podcast episode. It’s about XYZ. I think you should listen to it because of ABC. Okay. Bye. Right. Or it could be even shorter. If we wanted to shorten it, you could say, Hey, I’ve got some things to do today, but I didn’t want to miss out on emailing you.

I’ve got a new podcast on X topic. Here’s the link. Okay. Talk to you later. Bye. Right? You could keep it really, really short. Now, if you wanted it to look fun inside, you could, you know, add a picture, write it. Um, excuse me. I’m scratching my eyeball because I have severe allergies and they’re really bothering me today.

Again, I’m keeping this short, right? It could be a side note. To make it fun, you could do a side note. I’m writing this and I’m scratching my eyeball at the same time because I have severe allergies, right? That could make it fun. Also, adding a gif or a picture. I know, uh, for me, when I write a picture, I So, uh, I did an affiliate, um, promotion and the guy, we wanted to make it fun.

And so the guy that I was doing the promo with, he wrote an email for my list and the subject line was, you know, Liz didn’t write this email and y’all, he had pictures in it. It was centered text aligned, which I hate, but I kept it all for the sake of fun. So my hope is that between again, between these two questions, what would this look like if it was easy?

What would this look like if it was fun? You can come up with a way to write a newsletter that doesn’t feel like it totally sucks or sucks the energy out of you. It was like, I was trying to get, you know, new customers and trying to help people write their emails. I was like, well, what would A Black Friday offer to look like if it was easy and fun.

Oh, well, if it was easy, it would just be a big bundle of stuff. If it was fun, I’d give it away for a crazy low price, 108 bucks. I’ll write your emails for you. It’ll be easy. It’ll be fun.
