This week, Liz takes us on a whirlwind tour of her best-performing emails from April, and y’all, it’s a masterclass in not only getting those opens, clicks, and replies, but also making real affiliate sales (we’re talking thousands of dollars from ONE email).
Here’s what went down:
- Stats You’ll Want to Steal:Liz spills the details on 17 emails she sent this month, including weekly newsletter templates, one killer sales email, and a ton of newsletters with juicy links for you to click.
- Subject Line Gold:“Q2,” “please steal these,” “stupid”—Liz proves that sometimes short, weird, and eyebrow-raising is the way to your reader’s heart (and open button). For real, her open rates are fire.
- The “Tell Me” Email:This less than 100 words beauty not only got a 59% open rate and 3% click rate, but also generated HUNDREDS of replies. (You want your audience solution-aware? Do this.) Plus, Liz used those replies for mega customer research and—surprise!—to make more sales.
- Big Money Email:Another contender for April’s top performer: an affiliate pitch with a 67.8% open rate, 7.4% click rate, and over $2,000 in earned commissions. Sent only to her best customers, this email is basically proof you don’t have to shout to the whole room to get paid.
- Repurpose, Promote, RELATE:Whether you’re a list-building newbie or crushing it with four-digit monthly growth, Liz shows how to celebrate both, nurture your audience, and sell (naturally!) no matter your subscriber count.
- Get the Goods:Not on Liz’s list? Babe, what are you doing with your life?! She’s giving away her welcome sequence, three newsletter samples, and 52 irresistible subject lines. All. For. Free. (Links in the show notes or head to lizwilcox.com.)

What’s up? What’s up? This is episode 130 of the Email Sound Booth podcast. Can you dig it? Now, what I’m digging into is my kid account for the top performing email of April 2025. And I gotta tell you, this was the hardest one. I don’t, I mean, can I. The humble Brian. I was on 5 higher this month with the newsletters. So overall we sent 17 emails, four of those. So really that’s, that’s not a lot of emails, but we weren’t really selling anything.
But anyway, 17 emails, four of them were just for email marketing membership. Right? Just for, hey, it’s Monday. Here’s your weekly newsletter template, right? So four Mondays, four newsletters, right? One was just a straight sales email, but I had a lot of really awesome newsletters. And I’m actually, if you’re watching on YouTube, I’m going to, I’m going to share my screen for you. Let me make it a little bigger because I just want to brag on these stats, bro. Humble brag. Humble brag.
So we had, we had a lot of just like newsletters where it was like, I need you to click on this thing. Because I did a lot. I did ask me anything, April, which was, you know, literally, ask me anything. I’m going live around YouTube. I did a lot of YouTube co working. I did, you know, I started a live show every other Friday with Patricia. So there was a lot to click on. Oh, and I was promoting Zack Spuckler’s Face, Facebook Boot camp, Facebook app, Boot camp. I was promoting a couple friends summits. I had a lot to click on.
So I actually wrote more newsletters than normal. Normally when I don’t really have anything to sell, I’m only sending like a weekly newsletter. But I’ve decided I need to really send more. So we’re starting off with a bang here. The first email of the month was titled Q2, 60% open rate. Well, 60.4, 3.1% click rate. Amazing. Right? Then I sent an email the next day. I love these subject lines. I’m just going through these because these are so good. Please steal these.
Stupid was the name of the subject line, obviously. Even though I sent an email the day before, this had a higher open rate. Because that subject line is just good, baby. 60.8% open rate. Okay. Like these are just fire, honestly. And if you’re watching on YouTube, you can see, you know, 59 and a half percent open rate. 67.8, 62.8, 57 and a half. That’s really like the low. Well, the lowest, I think is the email that I sent April 30th. I think that was like 54 and a half or something. But I had sent three emails three days in a row. Like, these are just bangers.
5.9 click rate. 1.9 click rate. 3% click rate. 6.3 click rate. 1.6 click rate. 8.2 click rate. Dang. Yeah. So what was the best one? So I cannot decide. So I’m gonna leave it up to you. I am going to leave it up to you. I’m going to put this as a poll in our Facebook group. The email, sound booth, same name, Easy peasy, right?
So I’m going to cover. Tell me. This email right here, tell me. Sent out to about 13,000 people. 59.1% click rate. 3% click rate. I’m sorry, 59.1% open, 3% click. But I got hundreds of email replies from this email. So aside from an open rate, that’s pretty high. Aside from a click rate, that’s pretty good. I had a reply rate that was out of this world, baby. Out of this world.
Then I’m going to share. Also, this email is less than 100 words. Now, this email I sent out, it’s a sales email, and I sent it just to people in my membership. I had been sending so many emails to the whole list. I know people in my membership, they tend to open no matter what. They tend to not unsubscribe. Right? So I wanted to send this out. And this was a sales email for Zack Spuckler’s Facebook ads boot camp. You can see 67.8% click or open rate, 7.4% click rate. So great click rate, right?
So let me. So the Tell Me email, this was a customer research email, but also it was a way for me to promote two affiliates at one time, which I think was pretty clever. And it says, look at your email list. First, name how many new people in the last 30 days. Mine is 526. Hit reply, let me know. Seriously, I want to know big or small. Then I sign off again. This is good customer research. And this email works really well because it creates intrigue. A lot of my subscribers probably don’t know how many new people they’ve gotten in the last 30 days. That’s not a metric that, that, you know, people like me tell you to look at too often, but it is a metric you should be looking at and making sure that number’s going up every 30 days. Right?
And So I was able to get hundreds of replies, which means I have hundreds of data points now. I have people all over the gamut. I had people that said, oh, Liz, I have zero. And I had people that said, oh, I have thousands right now. This tells me there are two kinds of people on my list. And I was able to celebrate no matter what with them, with each and every single one of them. Me, Patricia and Amy answered all these emails. I think I probably answered the most because I really wanted to reconnect with my subscribers here. Right. That’s a, that’s an objective of mine this year.
But I was able to direct them. Oh, you have zero. Don’t worry. We’ve got a list building challenge coming up on how to network for collaborations coming up in June. Or do you want to join my membership? I have a list building course. If you just don’t know where to start, there’s a mini course in the membership. It’s $9. Get it here. Right. So I was able to turn all of that into a conversation about their next step, AKA I can help you buy my thing. Right. And I really do want to help them. That’s why it’s $9.
And then if they had thousands, I can say, okay, are you converting them though? Oh, you’re not? Maybe you need to get in my membership and check out the pre launch mini course and sales sequence. Right. Because if they’re not converting, I can help them with that. Or maybe you need to check out the welcome sequence workshop because clearly you’re not welcoming them in a way that they know what to expect from you and they know what you offer. Okay, so this is a lot of research, a lot of, hey, these are my offers. This is how I can help you.
So now even if they don’t buy right this second, they are absolutely aware that I can solve their problem. We’re talking hundreds of people and many of these people I did not know. And that’s great. That means new people were replying now with this email, I also did, you know, PS don’t like your number. Here are two ways you can grow it fast. And then I said, number one, host your own event. And I put an affiliate link to someone who’s hosting a summit about hosting a summit, my girl Cherie. And then number two, and I put a link to Zach Spuckler’s Facebook ads for lead generation. Right. And those are two ways I do recommend growing your list. Right. So it was just a perfect storm.
So to me, I want to put this as the best Performing email. It got a lot of clicks, I think. What was it? 3% open rate or I’m sorry, 3% click rate. 59.1 open rate. So great open rate, Pretty decent click rate. And I also made sales from it. I think I made something like three or four hundred dollars from this email. And y’all, this email literally took me less than five minutes to write. It was like, oh, what am I going to write today? Oh, yeah, this is, this is a great segue into both Cherie and Zach’s thing, which I need to promote today. Like I told you in a previous episode, in April 2025, I was drowning and I felt really behind. So I was like, how can I kill two birds, one stone? And all the replies was just icing on the top because again, now I’ve made everyone that replied solution aware. Okay, Solution aware. Liz Wilcox is the solution to my problem, whether it’s list building or converting the list. Okay? So that really, to me, is the best performing email of 2025. I’ve now convinced myself.
But I told you there was a tie and it’s. This email is less than 100 words. Now I want to say this is the best performing email and. Or it deserves like an honorable mention maybe, because it made me $2,000. And that’s great in affiliate income. So this email, 67.8% open rate, 7.4% click rate. It was sent out to just my best customers.
Real quick, first name. Wish your email growth looked something like this. Again, email list growth. There’s a theme here and it has a screenshot, if you’re not watching on YouTube, has a screenshot of my email list growth. So it says like in the last 30 days, I have 456 subscribers. You know, got $25. Maybe it can. The only guy I recommend to learn Facebook Instagram ads from is running a boot camp next week on running ads to grow your email list. Blah, blah, blah. Here’s my affiliate link. That one email made me over $2,000. Incredible $2,000 on it.
I’m not getting 100. Let’s do 2,000 divided by 25. That’s like over 80 sales. Because I’m not getting 100% commission, right? That’s a lot of sales. So awesome, awesome, awesome. So that for that reason alone, because I love money and email marketing is all about making money, right? It’s all about connection. But really we got. We don’t have to explain ourselves about why we need money. We just need money, baby. So this email is in contention content is a contender for top performing email of 2025.
