Hey, hey, hey! Welcome back to The Email Sound Booth with your gal pal, Liz Wilcox! 💌✨ If you were here for episode 106 and survived my existential email crisis, thank you for coming back! I’m on a pep spree this time around.
In this ep, we dive deep into a quasi-mystical secret of list building. Spoiler alert: It’s starring YOU! We’re talking about why your landing page might just need a glamorous (or silly) snapshot of yourself. Yep, grab your camera and pump up those face muscles – it’s selfie time!
Key Points Covered:
- Get Your Face Out There: So you want a better face connection with your audience? Pop your pic on your landing page! It’s like saying, “Hey, I’m human too!”
- Personality Powers Activate: A picture’s worth a thousand words. My throwback of me in an RV sporting a Will Smith tee is how I roll – quirky, fun, slightly kooky! What’s your pic say about you?
- Not Just Any Picture: Choose a snap that shouts YOU – whether it’s your fierce boss lady stare or your comedic smirk.
- Conversions Heaven: Slap that photo on your landing page and watch those conversions climb. Trust me; it’s got magic powers! 🪄
- What’s Next?: Don’t miss our List Building Live event from March 11th-13th. We’re vibin’ with amazing email gurus sharing their secret sauces to grow your tribe in 2025.
So get a pic up there and let them see who’s the fresh face behind that email magic. Catch you on the next one, and always remember, you’re amazing. 😎
Sending love, email vibes, and Will Smith nostalgia, Liz 🎉

What’s up, Liz Wilcox here. You’re listening to the Email Sound Booth podcast and I’m in a much better headspace than episode 106. If you listen to that, sorry for the woe is me at the beginning of that. Hopefully, it picked up for you. Anyway, if you didn’t listen to episode 106, you might want to listen or watch on YouTube@watchlist.com simply for the lolz. For the lolz of it all.
Anyway, episode 107. One thing your landing page might be missing. If you haven’t noticed, the last couple of weeks, we have been really, really focused on list building. Why? Because list building is hella important. You know, you can’t build your audience, grow your business, make money if you’re not constantly and consistently getting new leads, Right? Am I right? I’m right. Just. Just know I’m right.
Anyway, landing pages. So if you’ve got a freebie or just any place where people can sign up for your email list, here’s one thing your landing page might be missing. A picture of yourself. Yes, that’s right. It is that flipping simple. Okay? Simple. They don’t call me the Fresh Princess Fresh for nothing. I’m offering fresh takes. Here’s a fresh take. Here’s a simple one. They should call me the simple princess of email marketing. But fresh is more fun. Shout out Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Anyway, a picture of yourself is like gold on a landing page. Number one. It’s going to offer that face connection, right? It’s not necessarily like, video. Like, if you’re watching on YouTube, by the way, like and subscribe, obviously. If you’re not watching on YouTube. Why not? You’re missing out on these amazing facial expressions. So you can offer that face connection in the same vein, it can, you know, put a. Put a face to the name, right?
There are some people who, you know, they find me and they’re like, oh, I don’t know what you look like, or this. Actually, this is not the case anymore because I have a picture on my landing page. But when I was an RV travel blogger, I didn’t always notice I had several different freebies. And so not every freebie landing page had a photo of me, right? So this is a great way to just solve that problem right now. It can also say a lot in a few words.
For example, I just told you, like, go to YouTube. Watch my facial expressions, right? If you watch Survivor, you know, my facial expressions are on point. It is straight comedy, right? So when people see me, when they see the picture, they can get a vibe, they can get an essence. Right? For example, my. And you can go. It’s in the show notes. You can go to my landing page if you’ve never seen it, if you signed up through just joining email marketing membership or something, you can see I’ve got a picture. I’m in my RV.
This picture is old. I should update it. But that’s episode 109, by the way. Link in the show notes for that if it’s been released already. Why? I haven’t changed my landing page in five years. But anyway, it’s just an old picture. But I’m wearing a Will Smith shirt, which, you know, hashtag. I already mentioned him. I don’t know why I mentioned a hashtag, but you know, rewind two minutes. I mentioned Will Smith. He’s obviously, he’s in the.
Again, if you’re watching on YouTube, he’s literally in the background. I’m pointing at him right now, like, he’s a big part of, you know, my story and my inspiration. And so of course, he’s also on the landing page with me. I’m pointing at it. I’m pointing at Will Smith on my shirt. And I say something like, Will Smith would want you to have this. Now, obviously, that’s wildly inaccurate. That is a. That is false. That’s a lie. Well, it’s an exaggeration.
But you get a feel like, oh, Liz is silly, she’s fun. She’s slightly ridiculous. If you are into that, you love the picture, you’re gonna sign up. If you’re not into that, you wouldn’t be listening to this podcast, right? Oh, fresh princess. An email that’s kind of weird, egotistical, strange. I’m gonna go learn from someone else. So again, the one thing that your landing page might be missing is a photo of yourself. Pick one that best represents you or the way you want your brand and voice to feel online and go for it. Put it on the landing page. You just might be surprised that your conversions go up.
Anyway, I don’t know why I. Awkward pause. But I’m not going to edit it out. I forgot what I was going to say. But don’t forget, remember, we’re doing list building. We’re talking all about list building. Elements of list building. And don’t forget, March 11th through the 13th, I’ve got list building live. A little mini audio summit. I’m so excited. We’ve got people talking about all different ways they are growing their email list and what’s working for them in 2025. I am like, my voxer. I’m recording it with voxer. It is blowing up right now with all sorts of amazing conversations about it.
I just. I can’t wait. March 11th through the 13th, you can get signed up with the link in the show notes. As always, I’m Liz Wilcox, and you are amazing. I will see you on the next episode of the Email Sound Booth podcast.
